Teen girl shot in neck on Far South Side

A 17-year-old girl is expected to survive after being shot in the neck in the city’s Riverdale neighborhood tonight, police said.

The victim was hit by single gunshot while sitting on the porch of a residence in the 13300 block of South Prairie Avenue about 8:15 p.m., Calumet Area Sgt. John Doherty said.

She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment of the wound, a Fire Department spokesman said. Her condition had been stabilized as of 9:45 p.m., Doherty said.
